This auspicious day was the first day on which my Tecophilea cyanocrocus opened its first flower. It is a small high altitude Chilean Andes bulb that was thought to be extirpated by grazing and collecting, but just recently a new population was found. It has some of the most amazingly blue flowers in the entire plant world. It's a true blue, not a "blue" that's really a purple like so many other things.
